There was an air of anticipation at Goldsmiths as over 70 men, women and children, some with very happy dogs in tow, gathered together for the registration and the start of the 10 mile annual boundary walk. The Deputy Town Mayor, Philip Fermor, welcomed us all and after a short prayer, and wishing us good walking and we set off in great spirits with the
Hi Weald Walkers heading us in the right direction! As we walked at very varying paces through the beautiful countryside, surveyed the views, delighted at the spring flowers in the woods, the flowing rivers and the forest with its almost fluorescent yellow gorse, it was hard not to be in awe of the wonderful area we live in. After a morning of walking in the almost perfect weather and for some, a quick detour via the Coopers Arms we arrived back at Goldsmiths, and were presented with well deserved certificates for completing the course by Cllr Chantelle Wilson. It may well be true to say there were a few aching muscles towards the end, but there was no doubt it was an experience that was thoroughly enjoyed by all!
