Newly opened in April 2009 with 100 plots, Owlsbury now has over 260 plots and the capacity for further expansion. Situated on former farm land, the Owlsbury site is about a mile from Jarvis Brook on the Hadlow Down Road.
The majority of allotment plots here are of a standard size (10m x 4m) but a handful are much larger (10m x 16m). Keen gardeners may rent more than one plot! NEW from April 2012 - small half plots (5m x 4m) for novice gardeners or those with little time.
The site is protected by a rabbit- and deer-proof fence and is supplied with water, a car park, composting toilet and composting facilities. There is also an apiary nearby.
There is no long term waiting list although there are occasionally periods when a short term waiting list is in operation. Owlsbury has its own allotment association, known as OATS (Owlsbury Allotment Tenants Society) which plot holders are encouraged to join.
Allotment rent:– Standard plots - £27 per annum (1st April 2012 - 31st March 2013) Large plots - £108 per annum (1st April 2012 - 31st March 2013 Half plots - £13.50 per annum (1st April 2012 – 31st March 2013)
