Youth Ambassador Board
The Youth Ambassador Board is made up of young people (year 9,10,11 or 12 at school) who live in Crowborough (or within 3 miles) and have a passion for their town.
The Youth Ambassador Board gives the young people a chance to make a difference in the town including:
- The chance to get the voice of young people heard by Crowborough’s elected local councillors
- Finding out about what’s happening and what’s planned for the town
- Impacting decision making in a real-world setting
- Representing others who may find it difficult to be heard
- Championing young people’s issues in Crowborough
- A written reference from the council that can be used for a future school, college, university or work application
It also gives us at Crowborough Town Council, the opportunity to hear what young people want – first hand as well as help to prepare future leaders.
What will the Youth Ambassadors do?
Our Youth Ambassadors:
- Represent young people from the town
- Attend 4 meetings with councillors during the year
- Work together as a Board to decide on an aim for the year and then work on that during the year.
- Attend a ‘meet the team’ day
- Attend the annual Town Meeting and some of the town council’s events
How do the Ambassadors apply and get elected?
There are 7 ambassadors in total – 4 young people elected via Beacon Academy and 3 from any secondary school in the area, co-opted by a panel of councillors.
The deadline for 2024 Youth Ambassador Board applications is now passed.
The new Youth Ambassador Board will be elected in 2025. Please keep an eye on our social media and on this website page for updates once they are available
