Allotment Competition

Crowborough Town Council are delighted to be running the Allotment Competition across its three allotment sites again this year.  Last year’s entries were inspiring and we’re looking forward to some more great entries this year!

There are three allotment award categories and details about how each category will be judged can be found on the relevant entry form below.

Judging will take place in the first week of July and the winners will be presented with a £25 National Garden Voucher and a plaque to display on their allotment.  The overall winner will have their name added to the Competition Winners Board at the Town Council Offices in Pine Grove.

Allotment Award Categories

The award categories are as follows:

Best-Kept Allotment Award:  A winner will be selected from each of the three allotment sites in Crowborough: Herne Road, Owlsbury Farm and Pilmer Road.

‘Overall Winner’ Award:  There will be an overall winner chosen from the three best-kept allotment award winners.

Ecological Allotment Award:  This award will be given to the allotment tenant who has applied a range of ecological principles and ideas to their allotment plot.

Children’s Allotment Award:  This category is open to children aged 17 and under.  The allotment tenant must apply on behalf of the child.  However, there is a section on the entry form for the child to complete (with adult support if required) which will give them the opportunity to provide details about the item/s they are entering and what they have enjoyed most about their allotment experience.

The ‘Overall Winner’ award will be chosen from one of the ‘Best-Kept Allotment’ award winners and there is no separate entry form.

Additional information:

  • Entry is free.
  • You can only enter your own, Crowborough Town Council allotment/s.
  • You can enter more than one award category by completing the relevant entry forms.
  • If you have several allotment plots, you must select just one plot to enter for each award.
  • By entering the competition, you are agreeing to any photographs taken being used on the Crowborough Town Council website, on social media platforms, in our newsletters and in the press.
  • Judging will take place during the first week of July (weather permitting).
  • You will not be required to be present during the judging of your allotment.
  • All winners, except the ‘Overall Winner’, will be presented with a £25 National Garden Gift voucher and a plaque to display on their winning allotment.
  • The ‘Overall Winner’ will have their name added to a special plaque which will be permanently displayed at the Council Offices.
  • Closing dates for entries is Friday 6th June 2025.
