Summersales Burial Ground
OPENING 12TH MAY 2025
Crowborough Summersales Burial Ground is nestled on the edge of Crowborough and enjoys spectacular views across the valley, taking in the beautiful Sussex countryside. The burial ground is made up of several different areas, each of which has a slightly different feel and allows different types of interments and sitting at the very top of the site, The Summersales Room has been designed with a full glass frontage so that the very essence of the valley is felt within it.
As well as coffin and cremated remains interments, A natural burials area, a family grave area and scattering area for cremated remains have been created.
Naturals Burials are an increasingly popular way of holding an environmentally aware interment and our natural burials section, ‘Summersales Meadow’, will cater for coffin interments in a peaceful meadow setting.
The ‘Ashdown Family Garden’ has been specifically designated for family graves, enabling families to be buried alongside each other in neighbouring grave spaces. Each ‘mini’ garden in this area is surrounded by low, green hedging and provides families with a distinctive, private place to bury their loved ones.
Finally, ‘Summersales Lea’ has been created for the scattering of cremated remains. This special area consists of four circular garden beds, each home to a different species of tree, and available to book for scatterings.
We understand that burying a loved one is a difficult and sensitive time, and we hope that the Crowborough Summersales Burial Ground will become established as a place of peace and tranquillity for all who visit it.

How can I get there? Do you have car parking?
There is ample car parking available within the burial ground. Due to its rural location, we don’t recommend on-street parking. The local train station is Crowborough (approx 2.5 miles) and bus links are available to the town centre from the station.
The walk from the town centre (Crowborough Cross) to the burial ground is about one mile. Whilst pavements are available most of the way, there are no pedestrian pavements for the final section and the burial ground is situated on a rural road.
How do I arrange an interment?
If you’d like to arrange a coffin interment, please ask your funeral director to call the Bereavement Services Team on (01892) 652907.
For an interment of cremated remains, you can either ask your funeral director to call us, or you may choose to contact the Bereavement Services Team directly yourself.
In both cases, there are a number of forms that need to be filled out and arrangements that need to be made, so do allow plenty of time to get this done.
What days and times do you hold interments?
We can arrange interments during the following hours:
APRIL TO SEPTEMBER:
Monday to Friday 10:00 – 14:30 (coffin interments)
Monday to Friday 09:30 – 16:00 (cremated remains interments)
OCTOBER TO MARCH:
Monday to Friday 10:00 – 14:00 (coffin interments)
Monday to Friday 09:30 – 15:00 (cremated remains interments)
Interment times are slightly reduced during winter hours due to available daylight.
We don’t permit any interments on Saturdays, Sundays or public holidays.
Do you have somewhere we can hold a memorial service?

It can accommodate a maximum of 40 people.
Can I play music or a video during the service?
Yes – it comes equipped with a full audio-visual package so you can play music or show a video or presentation on the screen.
Can I book The Summersales Room for a memorial service if I’m not arranging an interment with you?
