Ashdown Forest Arts Society Feb Lecture

13th February 2025

Ashdown Forest Arts Society invite you to join them for their February lecture entitled:

The Wind in the Willows - revisited through it's illustrators.

John Ericson will revisit Kenneth Grahame’s story as depicted by numerous well-known illustrators, including E H Shepard and Arthur Rackham. The talk will also explore how the story came to be written for Grahame’s son Alastair and Grahame’s interesting and ultimately tragic life.

Taking place at the Crowborough Community Centre, 2pm on Thursday 13th February.

Members free and visitors always welcome - £7 payable at the door.

Flower Club February Meeting

6th February 2025

Crowborough Flower Club would like to invite you to their monthly meeting.

This month, they have a floral demonstration by Sue Flight: ‘Spring is on its Way'. Refreshments will be served beforehand and there is a chance to win one of the floral arrangements at each demonstration.

It takes place on Thursday 6th February at the Crowborough Community Centre 6.45pm for a 7.30pm start.

Visitors are always welcome - entry on the door £6

Farmers Market

4th Saturday of the month

The Crowborough Farmers Market is being re-launched starting Saturday 25th January and then every 4th Saturday of the month.

Taking place at Crowborough Social Club, Croft Road from 9am to 12.30pm. Pop along to support local producers.

Wealden Volunteering will be in Pine Grove Atrium starting on Tuesday 14th January 2025 and then every Tuesday until 11th February.

If you're thinking about volunteering in the community, this is a good chance to find out more about how they can help.

Connections Cafe Crowborough

every Friday

Connections Cafe are a community interest company that supports people with dementia, their families and carers.

They run groups in Sussex to engage in social activities in a supportive and safe environment.

The Crowborough Connections Cafe takes place every Friday afternoon 1.30 pm to 4.30pm at the Crowborough Community Centre (Pine Grove, TN6 1FE)

Crowborough Miniature Railway Opening/Event Days

Every Saturday April to November

The Crowborough Miniature Railway is open every Saturday afternoon from 2pm – 5pm from Good Friday until 5th November, and Bank Holiday Monday’s

There are also a number of special events throughout the season. Please see poster below.

You can also book a private party and have exclusive use of the railway on a Saturday morning – see the website for more details.

Free Fitness Classes

Every Monday and Thursday morning

Wealden District Council in partnership with Crowborough Town Council run free-of-charge outdoor physical activity sessions led by fitness company, Our Parks.

The exercise sessions, tailored for all abilities, are delivered by qualified instructors in Jarvis Brook Crowborough at 9.30am on Mondays and Thursdays.

Music for the Memory

Weekly

Music for the Memory is a charity based in East Sussex that supports those living with dementia or memory loss, whilst also supporting their carers.

They run free, fun weekly singing sessions, understanding the importance of music and the benefits that it has.

Although the sessions are predominantly singing, there are also some vocal and physical exercises (seated or standing) as well as a short quiz.

Parkinson’s Exercise Group

Three times per week

A circuit based exercise class for people with Parkinson's and carers. This Class is aimed at all abilities and adjustments can be made to suit individual needs.

Monday, Wednesday and Thursday at 11.30am at Uckfield Leisure Centre.

£3 per session.

Pine Grove Pictures

MONTHLY SCREENINGS

Pine Grove Pictures is a not-for-profit venture run entirely by volunteers.

Their main programme films are shown once a month on a Friday evening at Crowborough Community Centre (Pine Grove, TN6 1FE), The films start at 8pm with doors opening an hour earlier to provide everyone with the chance to enjoy a drink and catch up with friends.

Monthly on Tuesday afternoons, they run Golden Oldies screenings, which are great, entertaining films from the past.

These screenings are for everyone, but are particularly suited to those living alone, people with special needs and those living with dementia and their carers.
