Allotments

Do you fancy growing your own fruit and vegetables? Why not take the plunge and take on an allotment? Allotment gardening is a great way to keep fit and meet new people. We have three wonderful allotment sites around the town, each of which has their own unique character.  If you are a resident of Crowborough and want to get stuck in, why not have a look at what each of our sites has to offer…

A £50 refundable deposit will be charged for each new allotment plot held and some concessionary rates will be available.  Please see further information regarding the allotment deposits


The Crowborough Town Council Allotment Sites

Location:  Herne Road, Crowborough, TN6 2NW

Number of plots:  74

Facilities:   Water  & Green waste disposal

Tenants Association: Herne Allotment Tenants Society (HATS)

Waiting List:  Approximately 1 – 2 years

Annual Rent:  £40 per plot 1st April 2025 – 31st March 2026

You must live within the parish of Crowborough to be eligible for an allotment.

Location:   Hadlow Down Road, Crowborough, TN6 3RG

Number of plots: 260+

Facilities:  Water, Car Park, Composting Toilet, Green Waste Disposal, Apiary (please contact The Council Offices for further information or email allotments@crowboroughtowncouncil.gov.uk)

Tenants Association:  Owlsbury Allotment Tenants Society (OATS)  www.oatsallotment.org

Waiting List: approx 1 month

Annual Rent:  Half plot – £20;  Standard plot – £40;  Extra-large plot – £160;  1st April 2025 – 31st March 2026

Facilities:  Water, Car Park, Community building (toilet, rest room, storage), Polytunnels (space rented via the Tenants Association PRATS)

Tenants Association:  Pilmer Road Allotment Tending Society (PRATS)

Waiting List:  Approximately 3 – 4 years

Annual Rent:  £40 per plot  (1st April 2025 – 31st March 2026)

Allotment Competition

Each year, Crowborough Town Council invite their allotment tenants across all three allotment sites, to enter an  allotment competition.

The entries are in for the 2025 competition and have now been judged!

2025 Competition Winners

  • Best Kept Allotment Award – Danielle Lees – Owlsbury Farm
  • Ecological Allotment Award – Janet Kent – Herne Road
  • Children’s Allotment Award – Albert age 3 years – Owlsbury Farm
  • Overall Allotment Winner – Danielle Lees – Owlsbury Farm

The winners have been notified and have been invited to the next Allotments & Cemeteries Committee Meeting on 30th September to receive their prize from the Mayor. The overall winner will also have their name added to the Winners Board at the Council offices.
